| Report: | | The Lemonweir River, near Mauston, WI – Nineteenth Ave to County HH (10.8 miles). Water level was high, but receding. (There is no gauge, but it empties into the Wisconsin River – so you can use the gauge at the Dells for a rough estimate.) It was a mild, sunny day in the high 70’s with a gentle breeze. This river has many creeks and side ponds and sloughs, so the challenge is to decide which way the main channel is going. It smallish, 40-70 feet wide, sandy bottom and mostly tree shaded with occasional sandy “beaches”. Minimal deadfall, no portages and excellent put-ins and take outs make this an easy paddle. |
