Report:   Today we had a large group – 23 people and 19 boats – take advantage of beautiful weather for a leisurely paddle down the Nip. Wildlife seen were sandhill cranes, meadowlarks, yellow warblers, goldfinches, orioles, geese with goslings, hawks, a few ducks, great northern water snakes, and various other songbirds. The prairie wildflowers are just starting to bloom with golden alexanders, and field daisies being the most seen and dames rockets, phlox, geraniums, and buttercups in the shaded wooded areas. The cows were in the stream looking at us with curiosity! The water level at 5.66 feet and a cfs of 332 was perfect – just deep enough so you didn’t have to get out and walk and fast enough to be fun! Lunch was at Pioneer Park. A good day was had by all. Thanks to my car shifters Marilyn, Sharon, Gerry, and Bob. Also, a big thanks goes out to Gordon for chaperoning and giving guidance to our “newbies” along on the trip.
