| Report: | | We had just enough water to make it over all the little check dams and riffles without anyone getting stuck and have fun with. Salt Creek's banks are quite steep in most areas which made finding a suitable lunch spot a little tricky but we survived! The deep tunnel flood control tubes were quite intimidating. We all agreed that there should have been some kind of warning signs posted to alert people of the danger as they come in a sharp bend in the river. We encountered two log jams but managed to find our way through them without anyone having to get out and portage. Wildlife was abundant with us having seen four deer – one of which jumped off the bank and swam across the river, jumped the other bank and bounded off into the woods – a beaver, a muskrat, a mink, lots of ducks and geese, butterflies, and of course the “GBH”! Since the banks were so steep it was hard to see many wildflowers but we did see an abundance of phlox and buttercups. Thanks to my car shifters! |
