Location:  Belvidere to Cherry Valley, IL
Skill Level:  advanced beginner
Category:  paddling event
Details:  Meet at the Belvidere Park boat launch (parking lot just NW of Appelton Rd. bridge) at 10:00 am to unload you boat and gear. Car shuttle promptly at 10:30.  This stretch of river is 7.2 miles long and is rated advanced beginner/intermediate at normal water levels due to the many riffles and frequent downfall to navigate. However, water is very low which should push it toward the easier side.

Warning: there may be a portage or two and plenty of downfall to navigate through. Also, the low water levels will make this trip scratchy and may require getting in and out of your boat to pull it over shallow areas -- so don't bring a boat that doesn't like the scratches.

Wear quickdry/fleece clothing and bring a waterproof dumpbag with a second set of clothes (just in case). A PFD (lifejacket) must be worn on the trip.  Bring a snack/lunch and water as we will take a short break about half way through the trip.
